A Poem

After reading The Lotus Eaters by Tennyson, the assignment was to write a poem about a modern technology that could be like the addiction of the Lotus Eaters. This is what came out:

A woo of technology and timeless glee
the world of texting captures on and on--
For those who've seeped this trend don't always see
the view of what's beyond their two inch-screen.
To each his own, of course, is nigh at bay
this texting rage of neighbors yards away
But ignorance grows as fingers blaze their way
While minds are building blindness over time

Look up from this obsession, please
Beauty is waning and waiting for response
Time is pleading the awareness of expression and stance
Convenience is pleasant as texting nonsense increases
Yet human contact is troubled
with the growing rate of this choices thesis
Make room for connection and physical smiles
And blinded walls will soon forget their trials.
